Water is fundamental to the sustainability of all life on the planet. Lack of access to clean fresh water is one of the major threats to human health worldwide, and also presents economic risks to business, industry and the economy.
The RBC Blue Water Project® is intended to help foster a culture of water stewardship in Canada and abroad, and includes a 10-year, $50 million philanthropic commitment to programs supporting watershed protection and access to clean drinking water. RBC is committed to reducing the intensity of its own water footprint, promoting sustainable water use among its employees and clients and supporting the development of the water services business sector. • To promote responsible and sustainable water use with our employees and clients through education and awareness programs that create an understanding of the value and vulnerability of our water resources; and to reduce the intensity of our own water footprint.
• To encourage the growth of North American businesses that develop and commercialize innovative solutions to the water issues facing the world and increase our ability to provide financial services to these companies.
• To take a leadership role to encourage the involvement of other corporations and encourage a spirit of collaboration among and between all sectors to help protect the world's freshwater.
